How to Crochet Foundation Crochet Chain - Crochet Tip 20 Crochet Geek

When creating an afghan, you may find it is hard to get the chain the same size as the stitches in your afghan. You will get an afghan that is tighter at the bottom and wider as you progress. You may find yourself ripping and restarting several times to get it just right. The chain may distort your afghan pulling it to much or making the chain foundation to loose.

As you progress with your work, you may find that you crochet looser or tighter than the actual chain. You can resolve this by making the chain looser or using a crochet hook one size larger than the size you will be using with your main project.  Another solution is to use the foundation crochet stitches also know as chainless crochet.
