How to Work Multiple in Crochet Patterns

Image
You have probably seen the term multiple used in projects and instructions before and wondered what it meant. There are a series of numbers given, for example "multiple= 5 plus 3" or "multiple= 8 plus 10". This is the amount of chains that will be needed to for your project. It will help in determining how large you want your project to be. You might have a favorite stitch and want to use it in a baby afgan and a large adult afgan for yourself. Depending on the tension you use when you crochet, the size of your hook and the size yarn you are using; each will factor in to how large your final project will be. In helping with that you have the multiple. In the examples I have used above, the "plus 3" and the "plus 10" are used only one time. They help you get to the point in starting your project so you can complete your main pattern. The numbers before the plus, in this example are the "5" and the "8", determine how many chain…

Fabric Adhesive for Securing Yarn Tails and Knots

I stumbled across a Fabric Adhesive the other day at Michael's Craft Store. I had been looking for something that would secure my yarn tails and knots. It is washable and drys clear, although it does stand out on black yarn if you were to use it in a visible place. The name of the product is Fabri-Tac by Beacon Adhesives. I was thinking this would work on the tails and knots in the granny squares as well and keep them secure, so not to slip out of place after washing, as it the case in many instances where there are tails.

Summer Days of June

I have been on vacation so the crochet video's may slow up a bit over the summer. Some of you have requested demonstrations. I will do what I can to research them and see if it is something I can put in to video. I stay away from patterns in general, because there are copyright issues and they are to long to put in video format.

When I started the video's, they were meant to be used as a tool for begining crocheter's to learn how to do basic stitches and various stitches to crocheting. Once the beginning crocheter gets the hang of the stitches, they should be able to approach any pattern and accomplish it on their own.

I will do requests for stitches, that someone might want to see a demonstration of. Don't be afraid to ask.
