How to make a Crochet Star Sirius

Crochet Star Sirius

Skill Level - Beginner Advanced

Abbreviations
DC - Double Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
CH - Chain
SL ST - Slip Stitch


Materials
Size I/5.5 mm crochet hook - will work with different size hooks
4 ply yarn
Tapestry Needle


Joined Single Crochet - Insert your hook through the stitch, wrap the yarn over, pull through, there will be 2 loops on the hook, insert your hook in the next stitch, wrap the yarn over pull through,  wrap the yarn over pull through all 3 loops.

Chain 3, join

Round 1: 3 HDC, Chain 2, 5 times around, Join with a half double crochet to end at the center.

Round 2: CH 1, 3 HDC in the same space, CH 1, 3 HDC in the same space, work a joined SC over the 1st and 3rd stitch on the previous round. Continue around, join with a slip stitch to the first stitch.

Round 3: SL ST to the 2nd HDC, CH 1, HDC in the same and next stitch, In the CH 1 space, work 3 HDC, CH 2, 3 HDC, work 2 HDC in ea of the next 2 stitches. Work a joined SC in the last and first stitch, continue around, join with the first stitch.

Round 4:  SL ST to the 2nd HDC, CH 1, DC in the same and in each of the next 3 stitches, In the CH 1 space, work 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC, work 2 DC in ea of the next 2 stitches. Work a joined SC in the last and first stitch, continue around, join with the first stitch.

RSC - Reverse Single Crochet
SC - Single Crochet
HDC - Half Double Crochet
CH - Chain

Materials
Size I/5.5 mm crochet hook
4 ply yarn

Stitch Instructions and Definitions

Continual Round - This is where you work work in the next stitch instead of joining the round. The purpose of this technique is to eliminate the seam.

Chain 4, join.

Round 1:  Work 12 SC through the loop  (12 single crochet total)
Round 2:  Work 2 SC in each stitch around  (24 single crochet total)
Round 3: *Work 1 SC in next stitch, work 2 SC in next stitch, repeat from *,  (36 single crochet total)
Round 4: Work 1 SC in each stitch around,   (36 single crochet total)
Round 5: *Work an individual SC in ea of the next 2 stitches,  Work an increase in the next stitch, 2 single crochet, repeat from *,  (48 single crochet total)
Round 6 - 8:  Work 1 SC in each stitch around (48 single crochet total) Cut yarn and change color
Round 9: Work a round of reverse single crochet, join

Attach the stars evenly to the cap, every 8 stitches using the chain 2 spaces

Round 10: Attach the new color of yarn to the point. Chain 6, attach to the next point of the same star, chain 4, attach to the next star. Continue around and join to the beginning stitch. (There will be 6 chain 6 loops and 6 chain 4 loops)

Round 11: *Work 1 SC in the SC, work 6 SC through chain 6, 1 SC in next SC, 4 SC in chain 4, continue around.  (72 single crochet total) Do not join, work in the continual round.

Round 12: Work 1 SC in each single crochet around, continue around.   (72 single crochet total)

Round 13-15:  Work 1 SC in each single crochet around, continue around.  (72 single crochet total)

Round 16: Work 1 SC in each of the next 2 stitches, work 2 SC in the next stitch, continue around.   (96 single crochet total)

Round 17-18:  Work 1 SC in each single crochet around, continue around.  (96 single crochet total)

Stars - Make 6 
Chain 4, join
Round 1:  Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 3 HDC through the chain, chain 3, 5 times total from *, join with the beginning stitch.  Work a slip stitch over to the chain 3 space.
Round 2: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 3 HDC chain 2, 3 HDC in the same space,
