Video Tutorial: Crochet Tablet Cover Left Hand

Skill Level - Easy

Abbreviations
SC - Single Crochet
CH - Chain
SL ST - Slip Stitch

SC DEC - Single Crochet Decrease

Single Crochet Decrease - Insert your hook through the next stitch, wrap the yarn over your hook, pull through, there are 2 loops on the hook, leave them on the hook.  Insert your hook through the next stitch, wrap the yarn over your hook pull through, there are 3 loops on the hook, wrap the yarn over pull through all 3 loops.

Materials
Size G/4.25 mm crochet hook
4 ply yarn - 2 Colors

9-14 WPI - Wraps Per Inch
Tapestry Needle

Attach a slip knot to the crochet hook.

Work a chain of 18.  There will be 17 stitches on each side of the chain.
Pick up the contrasting color and crochet over it.  This color is going to be carried throughout the project.

Round 1: Work 1 SC in each chain across, when you get to the opposite side, make a pivot and work 1 SC in each stitch across.  There will be 2 SC in each end.  (34 single crochet total)

Work in the continual round.  This is where you don't join in the first stitch, instead you work the first stitch of the next round in top of the first stitch.  This will eliminate the seam.

Round 2 - 27: Work 1 SC in each stitch around, working over the second color of yarn.

Flap
We will be working in rows.

Row 28 - 34: Work 1 SC in each of the next 17 stitches, still working over the extra strand of yarn, turn and carry the extra strand of yarn on each turn.

Row 35: Work 1 SC, SC DEC, Work 1 SC in each of the next 11 stitches, SC DEC, work 1 SC, turn (15 Single Crochet total)

Row 36: Work 1 SC, SC DEC, Work 1 SC in each of the next 9 stitches, SC DEC, work 1 SC, turn (13 Single Crochet total)

Row 37: Work 1 SC, SC DEC, Work 1 SC in each of the next 7 stitches, SC DEC, work 1 SC, turn (11 Single Crochet total)

Row 38: Work 1 SC, SC DEC, Work 1 SC in each of the next 5 stitches, SC DEC, work 1 SC, turn (9 Single Crochet total)
This is where we will stop and cut both yarns, secure.

Attach a slip stitch to the corner of the flap at the edge of the pouch and flap.  We are working an edging of single crochet, working over the second strand of yarn. This will be a random number of stitches. Work evenly.  We are working in the sides of the stitches, they may be somewhat challenging but do the best  you can to find loops to work under.  Try to work under two strands, so your stitches are not to loose, leaving holes in your work. Work 2 single crochet in the corners so the stitches lay flat.

Button Loop
When you get to the top center of the flap, work 10 foundation single crochet or a chain of 10 for the loop. Work a slip stitch in the same stitch to join the loop.

Continue working single crochet around the edge to finish the edging.  When the edge is complete, cut the yarn and sew in the tails.
