Abbreviations
CH - Chain
SL ST - Slip Stitch
DC - Double Crochet
EA - Each
LP - Loop
SC - Single Crochet
FPDC - Front Post Double Crochet

Front Post Double Crochet Modified - This stitch will be worked around the lower round and completed in the next stitch to be worked, which is securing the stitch in place. Wrap the yarn over the hook, insert the crochet hook to the right of the stitch, around the back and to the front on the left of the stitch. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull around the stitch. Push the strand of yarn behind the hook. Insert the hook through the stitch on the previous round and complete the double crochet.

Chain 4, join.

Round 1: CH 1, pull loop up, 3 DC through CH loop. *Chain 2, 3 DC, complete 3 times total from *, CH 1, SC in beginning chain to join.

Round 2: CH 1, pull loop up, 2 DC in same CH space. 1 DC in ea of the next 3 DC, *2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC in the next CH 2 SP. 1 DC in ea of the next 3 DC, Complete 3 times total from *, 2 DC in beginning CH, CH 2 SL ST to join. Cut yarn and change color. (7 Double Crochet Total on each side)

Round 3: CH 1, pull loop up, 2 DC in same CH space. *1 DC in ea of next 2 ST. FPDC around the first stitch on round 1, DC in next stitch. FPDC around the last stitch on round 1. 2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC in CH 2 SP. Complete 3 times total from *, 2 DC in the CH 2 SP. CH 2, SL ST to join. Cut yarn and change color. (11 Double Crochet Total on each side)

Round 4: CH 1, pull loop up, 2 DC in same CH space. 1 DC in ea of the next 11 DC, *2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC in the next CH 2 SP. 1 DC in ea of the next 3 DC, Complete 11 times total from *,2 DC in beginning CH, CH 1, SC in beginning chain to join. (15 Double Crochet Total on each side)

Round 5:
CH 1, pull loop up, 2 DC in same CH space. 1 DC in each of the next 4 ST's. 1 FPDC around 3rd stitch on round 3. 1 DC in ea of next 2 St's. 1 FPDC around 6th stitch on round 3, 1 DC in ea of next 2 St's. 1 FPDC around 9th stitch on round 3, 1 DC in each of the next 4 ST's. *2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC, 1 DC in each of the next 4 ST's. 1 FPDC around 3rd stitch on round 3. 1 DC in ea of next 2 St's. 1 FPDC around 6th stitch on round 3, 1 DC in ea of next 2 St's. 1 FPDC around 9th stitch on round 3, 1 DC in each of the next 4 ST's. Complete 3 times total from *, 2 DC in CH 2 space, CH 2, join with SL ST in beginning stitch.

Alternative Round 5:
CH 1, pull loop up, 2 DC in same CH space. 1 DC in each of the next 7 ST's. 1 FPDC around 1st and 11th stitch on round 3. They will be joined at the top. 1 DC in each of the next 7 ST's. *2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC, 1 DC in each of the next 7 ST's. 1 FPDC around 1st and 11th stitch on round 3. They will be joined at the top. 1 DC in each of the next 7 ST's. Complete 3 times total from *, 2 DC in CH 2 space, CH 2, join with SL ST in beginning stitch.

    I have recently noticed that there is a place that says "download this video for 99 cents" in You Tube. Do you get this money as the video's author? I know you had asked what people would pay for a video tutorial once before. 99 cents is a steal, but I wondered if you'd get the money.

    Yes, I do get a portion of the revenue from the .99 cents. I wanted to make it convenient for people to have access offline and Youtube was able to come up with a solution.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I wanted to make sure you got something before I gave any money to You Tube!! My internet conection is very unreliable, so having the videos I really like on my hard drive is a great alternative.
    Thanks again for sharing your love or crochet. I am not sure if you can know the difference you have made in so may lives, from giving people confidence to allowing people like me to make small charitable contributions. Now that I have a hat and scarf pattern I actually understand, I feel like I can make things to donate to shelters. :) Denise
