Puff Stitch Crochet Square - 5 Rounds



Puff Stitch:

  1. Wrap the yarn over your hook, insert the hook through the stitch or space. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through. There will be 3 loops on the hook.
  2. Wrap the yarn over your hook. Insert the hook through the same stitch or space. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through. There will be 5 loops on the hook.
  3. Wrap the yarn over your hook. Insert the hook through the same stitch or space. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through. There will be 7 loops on the hook.
  4. Wrap the yarn over your hook. Insert the hook through the same stitch or space. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull through. There will be 9 loops on the hook.
  5. Wrap the yarn over your hook and pull the yarn through all 9 loops to complete the puff stitch.

Chain 5, join.
Round 1: CH1, pulling up to make a long chain. This chain will be done at the start of each round and is the step up to complete the full puff stitch. *Through the chain do a Puff stitch, CH 2, 3 times total from *. Puff Stitch chain 1, SC in beginning Puff Stitch. The single crochet will count as part of the chain 2. It is done so we end in the corner of the square.

Round 2: CH1, pulling up to make a long chain. Do a Puff Stitch in the beginning ch 2 space, CH 1.
*In the next CH 2 SP, Puff Stitch, CH 2 Puff Stitch, CH 1 complete 3 times total from *. In the beginning CH do a Puff Stitch, CH 1, SC in beginning Puff Stitch.

Round 3: CH1, pulling up to make a long chain. Do a Puff Stitch in the beginning ch 2 space, CH 1. *In the next CH 1 space do a Puff Stitch, CH 1. In the next CH 2 space(corner), do a Puff Stitch, CH 2, Puff Stitch, CH 1. Complete 3 time total from *. In the next CH 1 space do a Puff Stitch, CH 1. In the beginning Ch do a Puff Stitch, CH 1, SC in the beginning Puff Stitch.

Round 4: CH1, pulling up to make a long chain. Do a Puff Stitch in the beginning ch 2 space, CH 1. *In the next CH 1 space, do a Puff Stitch Chain 1 twice. In the next CH 2 (corner), do a Puff Stitch, CH 2, Puff Stitch, CH 1. Complete 3 time total from *. In the next CH 1 space do a Puff Stitch, CH 1 twice. In the beginning CH 2, do a Puff Stitch CH 1, join with a SC in the beginning Puff Stitch.

Round 5: CH1, pulling up to make a long chain. Do a Puff Stitch in the beginning ch 2 space, CH 1. *In the next CH 1 space, do a Puff Stitch Chain 1 three time. In the next CH 2 (corner), do a Puff Stitch, CH 2, Puff Stitch, CH 1. Complete 3 time total from *. In the next CH 1 space do a Puff Stitch, CH 1 three times.     Thank you for this video and all of your videos. I've made so many hats for christmas because I learned so much from you. I was wondering how would you turn this puff stitch into a hat pattern. I really the texture of this pattern and would think it would make a good hat pattern.

    Each time you move up to another round, it counts as a round. In this example of the puff stitch there are 5 rounds.

  7. Is it possible to make a blanket by continueing the sqaure? WHen I try it starts to curl and creates a wave effect. It about 5-7 rounds all. Is there a way to modify to make like 30 rounds?
